Amsterdam

Such a beautiful city and lovely people. We spent 10 nights in North Amsterdam, located just across the major river. It was perfect, like our get away from the bustling city. Every time we went into town we would board a free ferry with other people, some people had their bikes and motor scooters. We spent a few days in the city exploring the canals and streets. A couple days it rained all day so we enjoyed our time in our flat relaxing and cooking food. We rented bikes to help us get around quicker. On one of our days we took the bikes and traveled 8.5 miles out into the country, to Monnickendam, where we saw wide open patches of grass divided by small ditches of water. On our way back it started to rain a little with some wind, it was quite an experience.

Central station. On the other side is the major river.

During our stay, there was a carnival in one of the main squares.

Sold at the carnival. These were fresh waffles that melted in our mouths. So good but they came with a stomach ache.

Anne Frank house across the canal with a long line. We visited the house on a different day and waited 2 hours to get in. We weren’t allowed to take pictures

On our bike adventure day we came across a cool skatepark that was right next to and above the highway.

There is a small island, with people living on it, in the middle. A road connects the island with the mainland.

We came across a vegetable stand that had a small can for donations if you wanted to take something.
